Best Dog-Friendly Pubs in Lancashire

Share

There are plenty of great local dog friendly pubs in Lancashire, why not check out our favourites?

Lancashire is a wonderful place to be a dog owner, as there are a lot of great spots to take your four-legged friend for a walk. There is a great deal of natural beauty in the area, and lots of rural areas, making it the perfect county to spend some time exploring.

There are also a large number of fantastic local pubs, which offer the opportunity to relax and enjoy a hearty meal or a pint of ale. Whether you’ve just enjoyed a long hike and need to rest and refuel, or simply fancy an afternoon to relax and enjoy some local fare, if you’re a dog owner you won’t want to leave your companion behind.

Luckily, there are plenty of fabulous dog-friendly pubs in Lancashire, so we thought we would tell you all about a few of our favourites for you to check out the next time you’re visiting us for a dog-friendly holiday!

The Royal – Silverdale

If you’re visiting us here at Holgates, be sure to pop into The Royal in Silverdale. We have lovingly restored the former Royal Hotel, and are proud to be serving fantastic food that is all freshly prepared from locally sourced ingredients by our chefs.

We serve everything from breakfast to fresh pizza, and are happy to welcome dogs, so why not enjoy a day out in the local area, and then pop in to enjoy our food and drinks?

If you’re planning on visiting us in December, then you will even get the chance to enjoy our Christmas menu, available from December the 6th! You can check out our Christmas menu as well as all of our daily specials such as Tuesday’s pie and pint, Thursday’s steak night, and our delicious Sunday roast on our website here.

Please note that dogs are not allowed upstairs in the restaurant, but we are happy to serve food downstairs so that you can enjoy your meal with your four-legged friend by your side.

Parkers Arms – Newton-In-Bowland

The Parkers Arms is a lovely country inn based in Newton-in-Bowland, in the Ribble Valley. This lovely little parish can be found between the villages of Slaidburn and Dunsop Bridge, in the Forest of Bowland, which is an area that is hugely popular with walkers and outdoor explorers, as it has some wonderful fells to walk, deep valleys, and miles of moorland.

The pub itself offers a welcoming pit stop and has an environment that is rustic yet contemporary, and as elegant as it is comfortable. They serve some fabulous dishes that are cooked with local produce, as well as real ales and a selection of wines.

Most importantly, they are dog-friendly, and this is something that they pride themselves on and advertise widely.

Assheton Arms – Downham

The Assheton Arms is an award-winning country pub in the conservation village of Downham, which benefits from breathtaking views of Pendle Hill and being surrounded by plenty of natural beauty.

The pub itself is a Grade II listed building, and serves up beautifully cooked food, with a specialism in seafood and hearty classic British dishes with a modern twist.

In 2018, The Guardian listed them as one of the best dog-friendly places to head to for Sunday lunch, so if you fancy a Sunday morning jaunt up Pendle Hill with your four-legged friend, why not pop in afterwards? They even have great veggie options!

The Green Man at Inglewhite – Inglewhite

The Green Man at Inglewhite is doggy friendly, but they do also welcome well behaved, muddy-booted owners, which is great news if you’re looking for a place to stop off at after a walk in the local area.

It’s not too far from Beacon Fell Country Park, which is a popular spot in the Forest of Bowland, offering 110 hectares of woodland, moorland and farmland that is perfect for plenty of walking.

They have a great menu, including some fabulous pies, Sunday roasts, and plenty of offers such as steak nights and two for one pizza on a tuesday.

The Water Witch – Lancaster

If you fancy a stroll along the Lancaster Canal, then the Water Witch is a wonderful pub to stop off at for a drink or a meal with your dog in tow.

They have plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, and on a sunny day their canal-side tables are a great place to sit and watch the world go by while soaking up some vitamin D.

There are always plenty of pooches at the Water Witch, and plenty of dog lovers are regulars at this pub. Dogs are allowed in the bar area, and they even have treats!

The Station Hotel – Caton

The Station Hotel may seem like a confusing name for this pub now that the nearest railways station is in Lancaster, several miles away, but over 50 years ago when the line served the village of Caton, the Station truly lived up to its name.

These days it’s a cosy country pub, located near to the popular Crook o Lune picnic site, and the cycle path along the river into Lancaster, which is a really nice walk or bike ride to enjoy of an afternoon.

It’s a great place to sit and enjoy a pint, and your dog will be welcome too. What’s more, the food is great, and hugely popular with locals and visitors alike.

The Barn Inn – Bay View Holiday Park

Part of the bar and restaurant at our very own Bay View Holiday Park, The Bark Inn is the perfect spot to enjoy a drink or meal. Our designated area of the restaurant means guests can have their four-legged friends by their side whilst enjoying their favourite beverage or tucking into a meal from our fantastic menu. Indoor and outdoor seating available.

We hope this has given you a little bit of inspiration for some fantastic local pubs to try if you have your dog in tow, and don’t forget that dogs are also welcome in certain accommodation here at Holgates, so be sure to get in touch and book a spot for your four-legged family member too the next time you visit us!

We also have several cosy pet-friendly cottages available, which just might make the perfect base for exploring the local area as we head into the colder months.
