From this base, you can discover the inviting villages of Arnside and Silverdale, take in the sights of market towns like Kendal and Carnforth, and even explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Lake District.
Hollins Farm is situated a mere 15-minute walk away from our flagship Silverdale Park. These parks offer plenty of things to do for the whole family. Further afield you’ll find the quaint Silverdale village where you can peruse local shops for fresh produce and locally-made products.
At the centre of the village lies the recently refurbished village pub, The Royal Silverdale. This warm, inviting pub is part of the Holgates Family Group offering locally sourced beers, ales, and food.
The area surrounding the village is packed with exciting places to explore. From ancient ruins to sandy beaches, stunning vistas to peaceful nature walks, there is something for everyone at Silverdale Park. One of our favourite highlights has to be Jenny Brown’s Point. This viewpoint offers panoramic views across Morecambe Bay, ideal for sunset shots and photos with the family.
Hollins Farm central location also means that RSPB Leighton Moss is only a 15-minute drive away. This area is renowned for the wildlife on offer with sightings of bearded tits, breeding bitterns, deer and butterflies common.
Arts and craft fans can wend their way through the trees at Woodwell to discover the Wolf House Gallery. This gallery has everything from arts and crafts to gifts and jewellery. The gallery’s tea rooms are also great for a quick bite or cuppa.
Located 15 miles from Silverdale, you’ll find the Gateway to the Lakes, Kendal. This famous town is home to Kendal Mint Cake, local shops, pubs, restaurants, and is the perfect starting point for your journey through the Lake District.
The World of Beatrix Potter, Windermere
This attraction located in Windermere brings the World of Beatrix Potter to life! Set against the Lake District countryside, some of the most famous stories from Beatrix Potter have been brought to life. Ideal for a family day out, this site also includes a character-themed café and gift shop.
Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal
Hidden away in Kendal is this lively venue packed with art exhibitions, musical events, theatre performances, and more. There are also frequent crafts workshops for children to take part in too.
The Arts Centre is also home to the Vats Bar and Grainstore Restaurant if you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy a lunch or dinner with friends and family.
Lakes Aquarium, Lakeside
The Lakes Aquarium introduces you to over 30 different marine habitats, featuring a wide range of species. Located on the southern tip of Lake Windermere, this aquarium is home to firm family favourites like the otters. This family of otters are especially entertaining at feeding times and the underwater tunnel gives you a unique perspective of life beneath the surface.
For a full day’s adventure why not pair a visit to the aquarium with a steamer cruise on Windermere Lake Cruises. These cruises travel from Bowness to Lakeside providing you with stunning views of the lakes and landscapes.
Wray Castle, Low Wray
Wray Castle, situated in Low Wray, near Ambleside, is a firm favourite with kids. This magical neo-gothic castle has interesting rooms, turrets, and gardens to explore. The turrets themselves offer great views out towards Lake Windermere.
This site, operated by the National Trust, also has plenty of activities to keep the kids busy including historical fancy dress and the Peter Rabbit adventure rooms.
Hill Top, Near Sawrey
Beatrix Potter’s house, Hill Top, is a homage to the author’s magical world and stories. Owned and run by the National Trust, this 17th-century farmhouse recreates life as Beatrix Potter would have lived with artefacts owned by the author herself.
One of the reasons why the location of our Hollins Farm park is so special is its connection to the stunning Lake District less than an hour away.
Farmlands, rolling hills, fells, forests, and waterways all make up the rich tapestry of this area offering something for everyone from sporting enthusiasts to families, hikers, and anglers. Various historic sites, towns, and villages add charm and character as well as lovely local shops and restaurants to explore. This stunning area is also recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site!
Far Arnside
Located just down the lane from Hollins Farm is the splendid Far Arnside coastal park. This area has several coastline walks and picnic spots when the tide is out.
Arnside Knott
Arnside Knott is a stunning walking route and viewpoint where you can enjoy breath-taking views of Silverdale, Arnside, Morecambe Bay and beyond! The footpath runs directly through Hollins Farm.
Silverdale
Silverdale Cove is a located just a 5-minute walk down the road from Hollins Farm. This small stone beach is ideal for quiet strolls and leads on to further walks along the coastline. You can also walk directly to the flagship Silverdale park from the beach.
Shore Road
From Shore Road you can also access the coastline, perfect for walks on Morecambe Bay. Nearby local pubs including The Royal Silverdale, why not pop in for a spot of food after your walk?
Jenny Brown’s Point
Jenny Brown’s Point is the perfect vantage point to take in the bay and photograph the uninterrupted views. Why not explore the nearby RSPB Leighton Moss or Wolf House Gallery to make a day of it?
