Why Glamping is Better than Camping (Especially in Winter!)

Share

If you like your home comforts, you may feel glamping is better than camping when booking a weekend getaway!

Perhaps you are in the process of planning a fantastic family bonding experience, and you know you want to go camping, but how do you ensure that everyone stays warm during a winter camping trip?

You could fill your car with extra blankets, remind everyone to wear two pairs of socks at all times, invest in tent carpets, down insulations, sleeping bag liners and hot water bottles – or you could go glamping.

Our glamping pods are fitted with lights, a heating system and a plug socket; it’s everything that you want from a traditional camping experience, but we have softened winter’s edge, so that you can focus on what really makes camping special.

Staying in Our Pods

When you stay in one of our beautiful pods, you will still need all of your traditional camping equipment, but you will be able to skip the work involved in pitching a tent and get straight into it.

Families will immediately recognise the benefits of being able to start the camping fun quickly, as children are always eager to explore a new place; having to wait until you pitch the tent can cause frustration in excited children and potentially lead to a tantrum or two.

Going glamping is a luxury, but one that will be appreciated by all on rainy days, of which there are many in winter. Staying in a glamping pod is a drier experience than using a tent in the winter, as well as more resistant to the wind and a little more private in terms of noise reduction. Some important factors that may affect your decision to stay in one of our glamping pods are that we do not accept pets or smoking inside our pods.

Booking your stay in a glamping pod means that you can go camping in wet months without worrying about heavy rain. Our camping pods in Silverdale are suitable for holidays in all weathers.

A Traditional Camping Experience

You will still need everything else that you would normally take on a camping holiday – stove, food, cooler, drinks, toiletries etc. Our glamping pods contain one pull-out sofa bed which is perfect for couples, but any extra campers sharing your pod will need to bring their own sleeping arrangements.

Toilets and showering facilities for those staying in our camping pods are available across the park; many of our visitors have commented on how beautifully clean and welcoming these are. Our aim is to provide a luxury experience for camping enthusiasts; we know that you could survive out there in the cold and wet, but we recognise that you can achieve much of the same experience with far less hassle by staying in one of our glamping pods.

Beautiful Campsite

Glamping is camping with extra luxuries and, at our Silverdale site, you will have access to all of our relaxing facilities. After returning from a long day’s hike in the Lake District, we recommend that you treat your sore muscles to our sauna.

Alternatively, if it’s a typical wet winter day, you might opt to spend some time swimming in our indoor pool, an activity that will keep you and your family fit and happy. If you’re not a fan of swimming, we also have a gym that is offered to guests at £5 per day in the Silverdale park.

If you are determined to get out on a walk in the wet weather, then you will be glad to know that our laundrette can serve you from 9am-9pm in the event of muddy clothes. The laundrette can be found near the games room and includes washing machines as well as tumble dryers to suit all of your needs.

Alternatively, for something a little different, we have a fantastic bowling alley for you to engage in some friendly competition, or our Pitch and Putt course for a little nine-hole golf.

For a camping experience that is sure to live up to your expectations, we recommend our beautiful glamping pods. You won’t have to worry about the rain with us, and you can enjoy our clean facilities and various entertainment options. There are activities here that both children and adults will love; so consider booking your stay with us today at either our Silverdale campsite or the Bay View which is open all year long.
