The World of Beatrix Potter
The World of Beatrix Potter is the only Beatrix Potter attraction in the whole of Europe. With lots of fun exhibitions, a virtual tour and a shop full of Beatrix Potter magic, it’s a must visit for those with children.
2016 is a fantastic year to visit, as the attraction is celebrating three very special events. Firstly, they are marking the 150th birthday of Beatrix Potter – the fantastic woman behind the beautiful illustrated tales. The second thing they are celebrating is their own birthday – the attraction has been open for 25 years! There will be special events on during the year, as well two live shows! The third event is extremely exciting and not to be missed. A new story written by Beatrix Potter 100 years ago is going to be published. Quentin Blake will be illustrating the story, which is due to be released in September!
2016 is the perfect year to take the children for a visit!
The Lakeland Wildlife Oasis
Describing themselves as a “little zoo with lots to do”, we definitely have no issues with agreeing with them. Get close to nature with their fascinating display of exotic wildlife and hands on displays – your children definitely won’t be disappointed.
The highlight of the zoo is definitely the Snow Leopards. They are absolutely stunning! Although, like regular cats they’re often sleeping so you may have to try hard to spot them!
You can also book a number of experience days, including the zoo keeper experience where you get to get up close and personal with some of the animals. This is a firm favourite with the children!
The Pencil Museum
Home to the world’s first ever pencil, the Pencil Museum is a colourful world of arts and crafts. There is plenty to see and do, with a lot of it being aimed at children! There are animation, crafts, cartoons and model making workshops for the whole family – we can’t imagine ever getting bored here!
Children are encouraged to get messy in the art studio, enjoy the fun filled activity trail and experience a personalised pencil being made for them to take home!
There is lots of interesting history exhibitions for the adults to enjoy too – including a fascinating WW2 secret pencil exhibition!
