Whether you’re looking for unique souvenirs, a taste of the local cuisine, or just want to soak up the charming atmosphere, the Ribble Valley Markets have it all.
Clitheroe
Clitheroe’s market is a historic part of the town. It has been held regularly since the Norman times back in the 12th century, and the town is well-known for its incredible market stalls.
It’s not just a market; for many people, it’s a day out and a chance to soak up some of the real Clitheroe culture. There are over 40 permanent stalls making up the market at present, and it’s still as bustling today as it was centuries ago. Each vendor is utterly unique, and you can grab some bargains as well. There really is something for everyone. Make a day of it and enjoy a tasteful bite at one of the top 5 places to eat in Clitheroe.

Tuesday 9.00am – 4.00pm
Thursday 9.00am – 4.00pm
Saturday 9.00am – 4.00pm
There is also an Antique and Flea Market held on a Friday which is open all year round, even on Bank Holidays.

Whalley
Held at the Co-Op car park and Whalley Village Hall every month, visitors and residents of Whalley have the chance to visit the local food and crafts market.
Coupling incredibly fresh local produce with beautifully handcrafted items, visitors to the market can expect to find something that they like, even if they didn’t intend on buying anything!
You can buy directly from the local vendors and support local business while still getting produce and products of great quality. From fresh flowers, handmade bath and shower products and more, there’s plenty to shop around for.
You can attend the Whalley Farmer’s Market and Craft Fair on every third Sunday of every month, except for in December, January and February.
Longridge
Another town in the Ribble Valley which is known for its market is Longridge. It is known as the social and shopping centre for the local farming district, so you can expect to find a whole host of delicious local produce available, including fresh juices, fruits and vegetables, pies, cheeses, preserves and more. In addition to the market, there is also a charity coffee morning held most weeks, so after a look around the stalls, there’s usually a place to sit down and relax while helping raise money for charity, too.
The Longridge Market is held in Longridge Civic Hall every Thursday from 8.30 until about 1.30.
Ribchester
A historic village in the Ribble Valley with plenty to see and do, Ribchester is also perfect for those who love to shop and is considered one of the best places in the area to spend time browsing and buying.
The Ribchester Farmer’s Market and Craft Fair is held every first weekend of the month and plays host to a wide range of local vendors selling their wares. From homemade, handcrafted products, each of which is completely unique, to local foods such as cheeses, preserves, fresh eggs and more, there’s plenty to offer visitors.
This traditional market gives you a real feel for the area and gives you a chance to support some of the locals in their business endeavours. If you’re in the area and would like to pop along, the Farmer’s Market and Craft Fair runs every first weekend of the month at the Ribchester Sports Social Club on Church Street from 10 am until 2 pm.
Blackburn
For a true, traditional Lancashire market, Blackburn is definitely the place to visit. Located in the heart of Blackburn town centre, the market is easily accessible and hard to miss. The stall holders pride themselves on their high-quality produce and products and offer a wide variety of things to buy at reasonable prices.
Whether you’re looking for fresh local ingredients, clothing, books, gifts or more, there is sure to be something to suit your needs. Situated in The Mall Shopping Centre, visitors are able to browse stalls at their leisure and there are often events running at the same time to attract more people to the market. Local trade is incredibly important to the people of Blackburn and the more people who buy locally, the more the town can thrive.
The market is open Monday to Saturday 8.30 am until 5.30pm and is closed altogether on Sundays.
