Just like with all questions of this nature, the best time to buy a static caravan really depends upon the individual and their needs, and if the time is right for you, then it’s right for you!
This being said, there are a couple of things worth knowing about buying a static caravan at certain times of the year that you might want to bear in mind before making a decision to buy one.
Firstly, it’s important to have an idea of the ‘peak season’ when it comes to static caravan parks. This varies from park to park but generally lasts from March until November, with some parks being closed completely when they’re not in season.
October is generally when you’ll see all the newest models of static caravans hitting the market, giving you an excellent range to choose from if you choose to buy at this time.
On the other hand, with all of these new caravans arriving on parks, you’ll also find that some of the older models which haven’t yet been sold may have their prices reduced, so you could get yourself a bargain if you start looking for your new static caravan in early Spring.
By getting in there nice and early in the season, you’ll also have the widest variety of pitches to choose from, with owners vacating their current pitches for a variety of reasons.
The later you leave it, the more likely all the best places are going to get snapped up and this alone is a good reason to act early!
Pricing will vary from park to park and you may be required to pay everything upfront, but if the park are willing to let you make monthly payments over the course of the season, then buying early is a good way to ensure that you can spread the cost as much as possible.
End of Season
Many of the reasons why we’ve highlighted early in the season as being a good time to buy also apply when it comes to the end of the season too.
While early Spring sees new caravans coming into stock, late Autumn again sees lots of sales of unsold models at discounted prices, so it another good time to pick up a bargain as parks look to shift their remaining stock.
Lots of people will be vacating their pitches to ensure that they don’t have to have to pay next season’s pitch fees too, so you should have a good choice of pitches to choose from.
One thing to bear in mind though is that the very end of the season obviously isn’t the best time to get a feel for what the park is like during the peak summer months, so this can cloud your judgement somewhat.
While there are benefits to buying your static caravan either at the beginning or end of the season, you shouldn’t treat this as a strict rule.
The circumstances for buying a static caravan vary from person to person and you never know when you're going to find the perfect pitch at the perfect park, so if you stumble upon a caravan that’s just right for you at that moment in time, don’t hesitate to snap it up!
