Having Christmas away from home this year is your opportunity to do something unique for the festive period. After the excitement of booking your stay comes the organization side of things: what should you bring with you on your Christmas holiday?
No matter if you wish to keep your family Christmas traditions while on holiday in a new place or you want to create new ones – knowing what to take with you can help you create amazing memories that the whole family will cherish for many years to come!
Making sure your home is prepared for Christmas includes decorating it! Whether you’re spending the festive season in a holiday home you hired or a pod for the whole family – which we have available at our Silverdale park – or you own a tent, a touring caravan, or a holiday home, you can take Christmas with you!
Pack your favourite decorations, from a traditional wreath to hang on the door (or velcro to the tent!) and LED lights to place over windows, to your family stockings and shiny baubles. Transform your caravan, static home or glamping pod into the perfect Christmas grotto – and then head over to nearby towns with your kids to visit Santa in his grotto too!
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without the exchanging of gifts! However, you don’t need to focus too much on them. While making sure the children are happy and have something to open for Christmas, it’s also important to not give too much emphasis to the materialist side of things.
Not just because Christmas should be about spending time with your loved ones, but also because you shouldn’t overpack. If you’re staying in one of our parks and want to fit every single gift in your bags, it’s likely you won’t have much space left for anything else – and you should leave some for souvenirs you can find in the area, such as the traditional Grasmere Gingerbread and Kendal mint cake!
In addition, you might want to try something different this year and donate gifts to charity, sponsor a child in need and even drop off animal food at a shelter. This way you’re also giving back to the community and helping those in need during the holidays – what many say is the true essence of Christmas!
Binoculars and Camera
One of the best things about booking your holiday with us, no matter if it’s for a static home or your very own plot of land to pitch your tent in, is the beauty of your surroundings. They will provide you with the opportunity to have a very different Christmas.
Take the chance to enjoy the stunning winter wonderland around you and pack your binoculars and camera. You’ll be able to snap stunning pictures of the landscapes around you and of your family, photos that will last you a lifetime! And not only that, but you’ll also be able to spot incredible animals, such as winter birds and red squirrels, and take pictures of historic local heritage sites.
These memories are one-of-a-kind and will stay in everyone’s minds for a very long time.
While you’re more than welcome to partake in our fantastic Royal Christmas & New Year menu, created by very talented chefs, and avoid having to cook a Christmas meal yourself (open everyday except Christmas Day), you can also BYOF: bring your own food.
If you or your loved ones can’t stand to spend the festive period without homemade biscuits or that special Christmas pudding made by grandma, then take them with you. They can offer you the feel of home while you explore new places and enjoy new surroundings.
And, of course, don’t forget the Christmas crackers!
With so much to do and see, no matter which park you choose to stay, we’re confident that you’ll have the experience of a lifetime!
