Starting 2018 with the Right Foot at Holgates

2017 is nearly ending, so it's time to welcome in the new year with open arms at Holgates!

With Christmas over-indulgence behind you, one of the best ways to launch a fresh new year is by getting out and about in the great British outdoors.

And there is no better place for that than the beautiful lakes, mountains, forests and coastline of South Cumbria and North Lancashire. It's all ready and waiting for you to enjoy, along with the comfort and convenience of a Holgates’ holiday.

Start 2018 with Fresh Air and Exercise

There are many incredible walks in South Cumbria and North Lancashire for all levels of ability. If your New Year's resolution is to get fit, it will certainly get you off on the right foot.

If you crave peace and quiet after the party season, then wandering around this amazing winter holiday destination will offer you plenty of both.

What a great way to find the time and space to look back on the previous year and make plans for 2018. Not least as this stunning slice of England is often relatively quiet in January and February, meaning you can walk for miles without seeing another soul if you want to.

Great Views Even Indoors

If the weather is less than favourable, then fear not. By staying at one of Holgates' well-placed holiday parks, the best views could well be right outside your door!

Imagine it now. A brisk walk to fill your lungs with fresh air, or a gentle ramble amidst Mother Nature at her most raw state. Then back to your warm and cosy accommodation for hot chocolate or a nice glass of wine.

Plenty of Places to Go in January

Many of the top tourist attractions in the Lake District and North Lancashire are open year-round. So too are the many amazing restaurants and pubs in the region.

Then you could finish your peaceful day out with one of those wonderful winter's evenings spent curled up with a book or playing board games in your Holgates luxury lodge, static caravan or personal motorhome or tourer.

What’s On In South Cumbria and North Lancashire in Early 2018?

This beautiful part of the North West – so loved by loyal holidaymakers who return each year – has plenty of cultural temptations in January and February. For example, Manchester Camerata is holding a ‘Viennese Gala’ on Saturday 6th January in Kendal Leisure Centre. Or browse local artisan crafts at the Cumbria Gift Fair, 7th–10th January at the Cumbria Grand Hotel, Grange-over-Sands.

Do you love art? The fascinating Land, Sea, Life exhibition continues at Abbot Hall Art Gallery, Kendal until 17th February. It features the Ingram Collection, widely acknowledged as one the most significant collections of Modern British Art.

Not had your seasonal pantomime outing yet? There are several family-fun shows at local theatres including Beauty and The Beast at The Bryce in Burneside from 5th-13th January, and Rapunzel at The Victory Hall, Broughton-in-Furness from 26th–28th January.

If you prefer birdwatching, then on the weekend of the 20th-21st January you could join in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, at the Leighton Moss and Morecambe Bay nature reserve in Silverdale. The same location is hosting a Wild Challenge trail from 1st-31st January.

Clearly North Lancashire and South Cumbria have a lot to offer for winter holidays in the UK. So, book your holiday with Holgates and enjoy wonderful moments at our parks in 2018.
