Spring Time at the Lakes

The Lake District comes alive in spring with vast rows of bluebells, lakeshore walks and incredible fauna; you’ll never tire of things to see around the Lakes this Easter. Venture to Buttermere Valley and experience the change of the landscape as winter melts away (although the tops may still have a light dusting of snow). Take in the breath-taking sight of the daffodils as they spring up after the monotony of winter.

Across the Lakes, the birds will be nesting and flitting back and forth to provide food for their young. If you’re lucky, you may even spot a baby deer taking its first steps into the world with its mother. Nature is incredible this time of year, so why not visit during Easter?

Lake District Easter Events

Aside from all the natural beauty in the Lakes that can be experienced this Easter, various places in the Lake District will be putting on some fantastic events to entertain the whole family. Here’s just a snippet of some of the events you can get involved in this Easter:

Cadbury’s Easter Egg Hunt

Each year, Cadbury’s team up with the National Trust to bring a range of fantastic Easter egg hunts in various places across the Lake District. You’ll run through muddy woodlands, around mystical lakes and along nature trails to collect delicious Cadbury eggs. This year, you can go on an Easter egg hunt around Beatrix Potter’s much-loved Hill Top.

You will be searching for some prickly creatures hidden in the garden and some long-tailed creatures in the house. Look high, search low and, once you’ve found them all, you will earn a delicious Cadbury chocolate prize. There are also Easter egg hunts taking place in the Beatrix Potter Gallery, where you’ll be helping Mrs Tiggy-Winkle find out more about her family. Following the clues on your hunt map, you will be rewarded at the end with a Cadbury’s chocolate prize.

These hunts take place from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on various dates throughout April, so keep an eye on the National Trust and Cadbury’s website for more details. Booking is not needed, simply turn up and get your ticket at the ticket office.

Peter Rabbit Tea Party

At the World of Beatrix Potter attraction in Bowness-in-Windermere, you can take part in a Peter Rabbit Tea Party. With three dates in April to choose from, 6th, 13th and 20th, you and your family can join Peter Rabbit for some scrumptious party food including sandwiches, sausage rolls, crisps and cakes.

With a special reading by ‘Beatrix Potter’ herself of The Tale of Peter Rabbit, every child will receive their very own gift, a balloon and their own set of rabbit ears. You then have the chance to explore all the tales by visiting the attraction after the party. This is a popular event so book now to ensure your place this Easter.

For the adventurous amongst you, venture into the world of Ghyll Scrambling with Path to Adventure in Langdale. Explore nature’s playground and see the magnificent scenery; take a plunge into crystal clear pools and scramble your way up rocky waterfalls with optional roped climbs.
