Are you planning a holiday at one of the Holgates sites? I’m Cyril the Squirrel and I’m here to tell you about some of the great stuff there is to do.

Silverdale

At Silverdale you’ll never get bored. It’s a really big site, great for doing some exploring on your bikes. You can go down to the two adventure playgrounds where there are swings, slides, climbing frames, ropes to swing on – you know the sort of thing. If it rains (oh no) you can come inside and play in the swimming pool – there’s a big one and a smaller one for littlies to splash about in.  There are often special splash sessions just for kids.

Next to the pool there’s a bar and restaurant that has milkshakes and cakes and all kinds of yummy stuff – there’s even an indoor soft play area and a games arcade for the older kids.

In the village you can walk down to the shore or go to the park with its brilliant zipwire. Leighton Moss is really good – it’s an RSPB nature reserve with loads of really rare birds that you can spy on from the hides, or you can go pond dipping and see what you can find.

Hollins Farm

Hollins Farm is in Silverdale so you can do all these things from there too, otherwise you can just chill out on the campsite with all the new friends you’re bound to meet or go and see the ponies in the field.  The goats are really funny and so are the chickens.

Bay View

Bay View is massive – it will take you ages on your bike to explore this one. Because it’s next to the shore you can walk down there and spend ages playing amongst the tide pools – take your fishing net and your wellies – it all gets a bit muddy down there.

On the park there is an adventure playground and a games room with table tennis, a pool table and some arcade machines – there’s even a small bar for drinks and sweets.

Greenfold Cottages

All of these cottages have their own patio for playing outside and there’s a bigger shared barbecue area at the top of the garden. If you’re staying here, you can also use the swimming pool at Silverdale.

Orchard View

Orchard View has an enormous garden all around the house where you can play for hours. You’re also nearly next door to our Silverdale park if you fancy a swim or a go on the adventure playground.
